Founder and CEO – Bryan Wilburn – began his career as a transactional wholesale broker in the early 1990’s. He started Southwest Risk, LP in 2004, which grew into the one of the largest U.S. property insurance programs for garden-style apartments. After selling the business in 2008, he remained as CEO until 2012. He started Risk Theory, LLC in 2012, and in 2013, formed Risk Point, LLC., which was the first of many companies that operate under the Risk Theory Group. Bryan’s goal is to “hire the best athlete at every position. As CEO, Bryan provides strategic direction to the operations and growth of the businesses. Bryan is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
COO & CUO – Gary Marshall – CPCU – has a broad insurance background which includes 6 years in Claims at Progressive and Zurich (Universal Underwriters), and 25 years in Underwriting at Zurich and GMACI (Ally). He has specialized in underwriting all coverage lines for franchised auto dealers and began specializing in dealer open lot insurance in 1999. He managed a $100,000,000+ garage package program in the late 1990’s, and then moved to New Jersey where he managed the underwriting of GMAC’s (Ally) U.S and Canada Floor Plan programs for many years. Gary is responsible for assuring highly competent underwriting occurs within each underwriting unit, as well as line operations areas within Risk Theory. He is a graduate of Union College and has his CPCU designation.
CFO – Jarred Brown – has a unique blend of financial and operational experience with over 18 years of experience within financial service industries. His background includes serving in a variety of investment and operational roles for a leading middle market private equity firm, working within companies and on transactions in healthcare service and financial service industries. Jarred began his career with a regional accounting firm serving high net worth individuals and privately held businesses. Jarred is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a BS in Accounting from Birmingham Southern College. Jarred leads the support services team of Risk Theory including the accounting and the analytics teams.
SVP, CCO & General Counsel – Richard Schwartz – has represented or worked within the insurance industry for 28 years. He was an insurance trial attorney for Wilson, Elser, and then was in-house E&O counsel for Alexander & Alexander. Richard later joined U.S. Risk Insurance Group and was as the President of Professional Claims Managers, its specialty Professional Liability TPA, for 10 years. Richard also served as US Risk’s chief legal and compliance officer for over 18 years before joining Risk Theory. Richard currently serves as the group’s chief legal and compliance officer as well as the manager of its professional liability underwriting division. Richard is a noted expert on professional liability insurance coverage, and speaks regularly on the topic.
